Description
Driving the Electric Revolution (DER) is an Innovate UK (IUK) Challenge program to support the UK industry to seize the economic opportunities from the global transition to clean technologies and electrification. The programme will help businesses across numerous sectors including transport, energy, construction and agriculture to invest and work together to capitalise on the UK's strengths in this technology.
The DER program vision is 'To make the UK globally recognised as the centre of excellence in PEMD manufacturing processes

As part of that program, Newcastle University was awarded a large grant to establish a new DER Innovation Centre (DER-IC) in the Northeast of England. DER-IC NE will concentrate on the prototyping and scale-up of power electronics and electrical machines. IUK grant is funding the purchase of the systems.
This procurement is split into four (4) lots:
• Lot 1 - Semi-Automated Die Bonder
• Lot 2 - Vacuum Reflow Oven
• Lot 3 -.Power Device and Module Tester
• Lot 4 - Power Tester
The University is not governed by the provisions of the Public Contract Regulations 2015 or the Procurement Act 2023 when carrying out this tender process as it is not a "contracting authority" as defined therein.
