Requirement

We currently have a pre-fabricated workshop / laboratory which requires extending by approximately 4 metres and the installation of a suspended ceiling to create a survey room for a high profile upcoming project.

It is essential that the extension contains panelling and materials to match the existing.

We also require a suspended ceiling to be installed within this space.

Scope

STFC Daresbury Laboratory (STFC) are seeking tenders from suitably experienced contractors for an extension/upgrade of an internal pre-fabricated building situated on the ground floor of the main ETC building.

The works are to comprise of modifying the existing building by using the existing 'End wall' which will open out in two halves therefore extending the building by approximately 4M in length. A new 'End wall' will then need to be installed which will include a new large set of double doors. The original building does not have a ceiling/roof and therefore a new suspended ceiling needs to be installed using 1200x600 ceiling tiles.

Prospective contractors should be aware that this project will need to be fully completed by the 17th of July 2015.

Breakdown of Works Required

• Opening up of and reusing the existing end wall/panel which will then extend the building by 4M approx.. either side.
• Installation and supply of new end wall/panel which will also house a new double opening door approx.. 3M tall x 1.8M wide.
• Installation of new suspended ceiling covering an area of approx.. 14M x 8M. using 1200 x 600 plastic faced plasterboard tiles that if necessary can be removed to provide crane hoist to enter from above.
• Supply and install approx. 108m2 of 600x600x60mm of pre-bagged insulation.

Within Appendix A - Pictures you will be able to see the type of panelling and doors that we currently have installed.

This contract will be awarded based on the evaluation criteria set out in the ITQ document.

UK Shared Business Services Ltd changed its name from RCUK Shared Services Centre Ltd in March 2013.

Our Customers

Growing from a foundation of supporting the Research Councils, 2012/13 saw Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) transition their procurement to UK SBS and Crown Commercial Service (CSS - previously Government Procurement Service) agree a Memorandum of Understanding with UK SBS to deliver two major procurement categories (construction and research) across Government.

UK SBS currently manages £700m expenditure for its Customers, our growth projections anticipate this will rise to £1bn in 2013/14.

Important information

From the 2nd April 2014 the Government is introducing its new Government Security Classifications (GSC) classification scheme to replace the current Government Protective Marking Scheme (GPMS). A key aspect of this is the reduction in the number of security classifications used. All potential suppliers should make themselves aware of the changes as it may impact on this Requirement.
