Description

The works at Valley Road Park, Nottingham comprise the resurfacing of a block of three painted macadam tennis courts, new fencing and an access control system.
The courts are surfaced with painted porous macadam, the courts are serviceable but are fretting and cracking in some places. The tennis posts and sockets are in a reasonable condition, the nets must be replaced. New sockets must be installed to accommodate the new layer of macadam thickness. The chainlink fencing on angle iron posts is in a serviceable condition, but has evidence of vandalism to gain access, it is recommended that this be replaced with a weldmesh roll system. The block paviour kerbing is in a good condition, and it is proposed to leave this in place and marry the new macadam surface in with the top of the blocks over 400mm. There are two sets of double gates and two single gates. One single gate will be replaced with a key fob or card reader entry system by another contractor but the other gates must be replaced.
Contractors or specialist sub-contractors must be members of SAPCA (Sport and Play Construction Association); evidence of this should be submitted and will be taken into account when assessing tenders.
Funding for this project will be provided by the LTA and their requirements are included within the specification.
