Description
262/EML/ASTC/15 CREST2 Project Materials Testing
The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for supply to the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre at Catcliffe, Rotherham.
Scope of Requirement:
The intention is to create framework agreement for a number of services, described as lots. Each lot will be awarded to a single supplier.
The CREST2 project is a collaborative project between Airbus UK, Messier-Bugatti-Dowty, Carpenter Technologies and the University of Sheffield (UoS). The UoS is supplying the consortium with key tests data. The project objective is to remove the need for using non REACH compliant products in the manufacture of large structural aerospace components.
The University of Sheffield, through its Advanced Structural Testing Centre (ASTC), will commission tests and control the conversion of the Carpenter Technologies material into test coupons and the delivery of test results.
All testing is required to be undertaken by organisations holding specific accreditation from Messier-Bugatti-Dowty for the provision of testing.
The required Testing Services shall be undertaken off the AMRC facility and have been categorised as follows:
Lot 1 Tensile Testing to ASTM E8/E8M
Lot 2 Compression testing to ASTM E9-09
Lot 3 Fracture toughness testing to ASTM E399-09
Lot 4 Shear Strength testing to ASTM B769-07
Lot 5 Grain size checks to ASTM E112-10
Lot 6 Fatigue testing to PCS-7400
It is anticipated that the time required to complete the project would be in the region of 24 months. A framework will be established for this initial period of 24 months commencing as soon as possible. This period may be extended no longer than 6 months post the initial contract term, if so required, to meet need and to complete project requirements.
