Description

The University Hospitals Birmingham are looking to commission an external body to undertake an audit of waste services across all of its five keys sites and a number of out lying clinical and none clinical locations.

The scope of the audit will include and not be limited to

Audit Scope

- Contractual arrangements to include contingency planning
- Processes and procedures in relation to segregation at source
- Internal waste production/ primary packaging / primary storage/ collection/ secondary storage and consignment
- Internal transpiration of waste
- Education/training,
- Primary waste bins for all waste stream
- Bio Systems v single use sharps boxes
- Management of document/record keeping
- Producer Return Audits
- Trust Waste Policy
- Trust Waste Strategy
- Compliance with legislation to include DGSA
- Compliance with regards to our duty of care
- National and local waste strategies including NHSI
- Environmental impacts/social responsibilities
- Identifying good and bad practice.
- Carbon footprint and sustainability
- Circular Economy


The successful bidder will be required to provide and present a formal report on findings that will include if applicable recommendations to improve the overall function and management of waste across all UHB sites.
