Description
Provision of Independent Prescribing courses
HEE is seeking to engage education providers to deliver up to 3,011 places on courses which deliver General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) accredited pharmacist independent prescribers across England, between 1 September 2022 and 31 March 2023.
Suppliers will have the opportunity to deliver additional activity in year 2 until March 2024, as HEE intend to award this contract with an optional one year extension.
The scope of this contract will provide funded courses for pharmacists who fall within the following three categories of learner (see Appendix A for further detail):
1. ARRS/PCPEP: Pharmacists deployed as part of the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme, are enrolled on the Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway (PCPEP) and meet the PCPEP criteria to enrol onto an Independent Prescribing Course
2. Pharmacy Integration Programme (PhIP): Pharmacists working to support the delivery of primary care services, working as:
• Community pharmacists
• Pharmacists employed in GP who are not eligible for, or enrolled on the Primary Care Pharmacy Education Programme (PCPEP)
• Pharmacists working to provide primary care services (e.g working in primary care/CCG) who are not employed in ARRS roles
• Health and Justice pharmacists
3. Regional NHS Managed sector Pharmacist IP provision: Pharmacists working in the NHS managed sector, covering activity usually delivered through HEE regional commissioning models.
The contract will be awarded with an end date of 31 March 2023. There is an expectation that enrolment should be available for courses starting in September 2022. Multiple intake points for courses are desirable, and students may be enrolled into new courses up to the end date of the contract, with 'teaching out' permitted after this.
