Description

The Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL) is Britain's leading industrial health and safety facility. HSL supports HSE's mission to protect people's health and safety by ensuring risks in the changing workplace are properly controlled.

BACKGROUND TO THE PROJECT

For the calibration/validation of air sampling methods, sampler devices, sensors and the production of laboratory proficiency test samples, HSL requires the ability to produce stable standard particle atmospheres.

OBJECTIVES

Production of stable standard particle atmospheres with outputs of constant size and concentration.

SPECIFICATION REQUIRED
The requirements are for:-

• Capability to produce carbonaceous nanoparticles in the range 20 nm - 200 nm based upon a spark discharge process with the ability to produce other metallic nanoparticles.
• Mass flow of up to 10 mg/hour
• Ability to produce nanoparticle output for at least 5 hours stable
• Volume dilution output from generator (vendor to describe available options) ideally through use of mass flow controllers for precise dilution control

Installation, Commissioning and Training. Tender to include itemised delivery, installation, and commissioning costs for the HSL Buxton site and provision of on-site training of 3-4 staff in the use of the new system.

Warranty. Customary warranty or extended warranty to be offered. HSL would like to a achieve 24 month warranty period as standard for the instrument.

Other Services: We would also like to look at preventative maintenance and calibration services
