Description

The Isle of Man Government, Department of Health and Social Care, Adult Services Division seek interest from individuals or organisations for the provision of an On-Island Psychology Service for adults with a learning disability.
The Isle of Man Learning Disability Strategy 2014 - 2019 outlines the Department of Social Care, Adult Services vision and plans under which services to support people with learning disabilities are provided. More specifically, the strategy requires the exploration and development of specialist provision and greater access to mainstream services.
It is widely accepted that not all mainstream services exist on the Isle of Man and access to them can be twofold by either travelling off-Island or importing specialist knowledge and skills.
The current service is provided by a visiting Consultant Clinical Psychologist on a minimum basis of two days per month. Specialism in the field of Learning Disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and capability to participate and provide support in the Multi-Disciplinary Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition is essential.
Key elements of the service provision:
1) Assessment of adults with a learning disability who require additional specialist input will be referred for the purpose of assessment and where appropriate diagnosis and psychological intervention.
2) Assessment of adults with a learning disability who have either a confirmed Autism Spectrum Disorder and require additional specialist input or a suspected ASD and will be referred for purposes of assessment, diagnosis and intervention.
3) Assessment of capacity to consent for adults with a learning disability including those who also have either a mental illness diagnosis or, autism spectrum disorder.
4) Assist in the construction and supervision of specialist interventions aimed at reducing behaviour that challenges.
5) To complete WAISS assessments and where necessary, functional assessments to establish diagnosis of learning disability.
On-Island support and Development
Provision of mentorship and supervision to professionals (Learning Disability Specialist Support Practitioner/ TEACCH qualified practitioners and PBS Coaches) within the Disability Services Team who support the role.
Essential Criteria
1) HCPC registration
2) Member of the British Psychological Society.
Process
Initially, the Division look to identify interest from experienced and competent individuals or organisations and engage in further dialogue to identify a clear commissioning pathway.
The Division are however committed to formalising a service at the earliest opportunity and encourage the confidential registration of interest to Will McCann, Partnership and Contracts Manager, Adult Social Care, DHSC, Markwell House, Market Street IM1 2RZ or via email william.mccann2@gov.im
The closing date by which interest must be received is noon Friday 7th July 2017
