Description

The Northern Lighthouse Board (NLB) owns an operational base on Gallanach Road in Oban. NLB wish to convert two internal mezzanine spaces within the buoy store on the base - currently accessed by hatches and ladders into usable areas with stepped access. One of these areas is located above a workshop area and one is above a paint kitchen. It is hoped that at least one of these spaces would be fitted out to allow for use as a tea break rooms for staff. This would be very beneficial for the buoy store staff and would also allow the off hire of the temporary container facility currently used as the staff break area.

To progress this project, NLB are looking to appoint an architect led design team to review the current outline proposals we have had developed previously. The architect may propose a different solution that they consider is a more cost effective or efficient design, but the overall outcome should be the same i.e. provision of a rest area in one, or both, of the mezzanine floor spaces. The appointed architect should be capable of providing, as a minimum, Architectural Services, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Services (including fire and lighting services), and Civil & Structural Engineering Services. The estimated budget for construction is £150K.

There is a mandatory site visit to NLB Oban on Thursday 6 April 2023. The quote return date is Friday 5 May.
