Description

As part of the Salford City Council's ongoing improvement programme for its public leisure facilities upgrading of the mechanical and electrical services systems are planned at: Combined Heat and Power Installation As part of Salford City Councils energy saving strategy it is proposed to install Combined Heat and Power Plant at two of its existing Leisure facilities. Site 1: Worsley Leisure Centre Site 2: Irlam Leisure Centre These sites have been identified as having the recommended criteria in which to install and operate this type of equipment in order to produce the maximum benefits. Primarily the constant heat demand created by the swimming pool in conjunction with the on-site electrical demand required to operate the facility. Consequently this will result in benefits of reduced carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, increased energy efficiency, reduced energy bills and cost savings to the site operators. In addition it will improve the security of electricity supply to the building. It is proposed to locate the CHP equipment within existing areas of the building with some building work required to allow for this. Therefore the CHP contractor is required to take this and any associated factors into consideration during the pricing and design of the work. Contractors will be expected to honour their submitted Priced Tender for the delivery of the contract from May to July 2015.
