Description

The Manor House is a Grade II listed building owned and occupied by Littlehampton Town Council. The Council has recently commissioned a structural investigation into cracking on the south facing wall of the building. Full details of the outcome of this investigation and the proposed remedial works can be found in the attached report.

In summary the report concluded that there is extensive corrosion to the steelwork column sections within the wall which is reducing their load carrying capacity and adversely affecting the render.
Additionally the cracking to the render is allowing further moisture ingress into the wall construction thus accelerating the corrosion process. There are three vertical cracks in total that require remedial work, two of which were structurally investigated. The third one although not as severe as the other two, is also assumed to be caused by corrosion of the steel column. There is also horizontal cracking (below the roof parapet) running the distance between the three cracks which requires remedial work.
The Town Council requires a contractor to carry out remedial works as above and in agreement with the District's Conservation Officer and Listed Building Adviser. Further detail can be found in the attached report
