Description
This contract is for the provision of SPIRE- export Licensing IT system.
SPIRE is the Export Control Organisation's export licensing case management system; an online platform for export or trade licences a wide range of "strategic" goods (such as security items, military goods, civilian products designed with a military use or purpose, firearms, police and paramilitary goods, radioactive sources and more).
SPIRE can also be used to make a Ministry of Defence Form 680 application, Private Venture security grading or Exhibition Clearance applications.
DBT is moving towards a new, in-house digital service called LITE, with the expectation that LITE will fully replace SPIRE for the UK's export licensing needs. When LITE is fully operational, SPIRE will be decommissioned.
This contract ensures DBT will still have access to SPIRE until it is decommissioned and replace by LITE.
