Description

Cambridgeshire County Council has a statutory duty to appoint a Public Analyst, Deputy Public Analyst, Agricultural Analyst and Deputy Agricultural Analyst for the purposes of the Food Safety Act 1990 and the Agricultural Act 1970. These Services shall hereafter be referred to as 'the Public Analyst'.Cambridgeshire Supporting Businesses & Communities samples approximately 150 food and 20 agricultural products annually. The service also responds to consumer complaints concerning food safety matters and at times their responses are urgent and of the utmost priority.In addition, Trading Standards are committed to a programme of advice to local manufacturers and importers to help maintain food standards. As part of this service to Cambridgeshire businesses, samples of locally produced food items are submitted for independent analysis.The estimated value of expenditure on these services is in the region of 15,000 - 19,000 per annum. Please note this is an approximate value based on budget available and previous trends.The appointment for a Public Analyst services shall be for an initial three year period from 16th April 2015 to 15th April 2018 with a 2 year possible extension available for the Council to take up should it so wish.
