Description

A partnership approach is taken to Choice Based Lettings for social housing in the borough. The Council's main Registered Provider Partners are Sanctuary, Plus Dane and Weaver Vale Housing Trust. The Council processes applications for social housing at the 'front-end' of the Registration Process and the main Registered Provider partners create property adverts and manage short lists and offer of lettings to prospective tenants. The Council and partners are implementing a service redesign to meet the partnership's objective to 'channel shift' and encourage customers to self-serve and there is an ambition to achieve the following objectives: To provide an integrated platform which will provide customers with web access to a range of housing options including include social lettings, affordable rented housing, shared ownership, private rented housing and affordable homes to buy. To provide a holistic housing options approach via an 'options wizard' which gives customers a tailored response based on their circumstances. To provide an effective Housing Options and homelessness case management system. The system should facilitate the effective referrals to private rented sector landlords and capture any incentives such as bond guarantees. To efficiently operate a Common Housing Register and Common Allocations policy across the partnership area, utilising social media and an effective ICT solution to market the scheme and any partner initiatives. To provide customers with a Choice Based Lettings system that is open, fair and easy for customers to use across the geographical footprint. To attract new customers to the partnership scheme, assisting in reducing areas of low demand and void times on hard to let properties. An ICT solution is required to achieve this ambition
