Description

The Council seeks to appoint a Contractor to carry out voluntary remediation works including (but not limited to) excavation and off-Site removal of impacted soils and replacement with clean fill, pre-cast concrete burial vaults, landscaping and minor civils works (the 'Works') at an area known as 'the mound', Paddington Old Cemetery, London NW6 7SD (the 'Site'). The Site was raised by the importation of materials from various locations (unknown) some time ago. The aim of the importation was to provide a raised area for further burials. A total of 117 burials have been undertaken into the mound to date. During the burial process, asbestos has been identified as free fibres and as asbestos cement materials. This now requires excavation of spoil and safe disposal and backfill with concrete burial vaults and making god earthworks.
