Project Background
KBS Maritime have a requirement for penstock refurbishments and replacements across Portsmouth Naval Base. These include levelling penstocks of circa 8 metres deep to drainage penstocks circa 22 metres deep. The refurbishment programme covers door seals, shaft and door nut replacements, ladder and platform replacements and actuation upgrades. The replacement programme will replace the current cast irons doors with a steel version specification to be agreed along with the associated shafts, wedges, door nut, brackets, platforms, ladders and actuation and road plates. This is a rolling 10 year programme with two refurbishments to be complete by end of 2023 and circa seven replacements by end of 2024.
