Description

Health Education England (HEE) support the delivery of excellent healthcare and health improvement to the patient and public in England by ensuring that the workforce of today and tomorrow has the right numbers, skills, value and behaviours, at the right time and in the right place.

Following a small, in-house campaign run by Health Education England (HEE) last year in the lead up to Clearing (August 2017), HEE, alongside the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) are planning a 'Phase 2' campaign to improve perceptions of nursing, the allied health professions and midwifery and encourage applications to relevant undergraduate courses through Clearing in 2018 and potentially UCAS applications in 2019.

Key results from the campaign included increasing awareness of these roles by driving traffic to the website. UCAS figures suggest a higher interest in these degrees as part of Clearing than in previous years. We can assume that the campaign played a part in this but we are unable to measure its influence on this behaviour. This campaign, where the potential budget is significantly larger, will need to better measure influence and outcome of the activity as well as outputs. This could mean building better relationships with universities and/or UCAS to facilitate this to allow for tracking and re-contact studies.
