Description

The Authority requires the Contractor to carry out Landscaping Works and specified improvements at Meco Memorial Nature Park, Worcester.

The public open space (POS) bounded by St John's Cemetery, allotments, existing housing and a recent development at Willis Place is an area owned by the City Council commonly known as Sanctuary Park. A plan is attached.

The land is to be retained as POS as a condition of planning consent from the development to the east side, Planning ref P18K0195.

The Authority is seeking to create a small informal park which provides space to incorporate a memorial to the victims of World War 2 bombing raids on the local Meco Works and provide an amenity for local people. These proposals are consistent with the need to manage the site sensitively in terms of ecology and the presence of slow worms relocated from the adjoining land as one of the planning conditions for the adjacent housing development.

There is a Public Right Of Way, known as Footpath No 681, which runs along the southern boundary of the POS adjacent to St John's Cemetery.

Access to the POS can be gained using the:

• Footpath from Rowley Hill Street
• Footpath from Sanctuary Close
• Vehicular track and path (known as Meco Alley) from A44 Bromyard Road

The land is to be known as "MECO MEMORIAL NATURE PARK" and this reference should appear in all documentation.

Bidders are required to carry out a site visit prior to submitting their Quotation in order to fully appreciate the potential qualities of the park and to understand the extent of the work specified.
