Description

The Community Equipment Service (CES) provides a vital service to residents, enabling them to maintain their independence at home. Through commercial partnerships with other local authorities and NHS bodies we facilitate over 100,000 deliveries a year of essential pieces of health and social care related equipment. To ensure CES provides best value, equipment is collected once a resident no longer needs it. The equipment is cleaned, decontaminated and refurbished to a standard whereby it can be reissued to a resident in the community. A large proportion of this equipment is made of tubular metal and solid plastic - making them suitable candidates to be cleaned using an industrial cleaning machine; for example: walking frames, commodes, toilet frames and transfer aids. CES currently issue 800 items (made up of 34 different lines of equipment) a month, and 9,000 items a year, that has been recycled by the service and identified as equipment that could be cleaned by use of a machine. This category of equipment is currently cleaned by hand, using cleaning chemicals and cloths.
