Description
Essex County Council (ECC) is looking to commission an electric bike loan scheme targeted within the workplace. This scheme will support individuals facing travel and health inequalities within the work environment.
Essex Pedal Power, one of the flagship programmes of the Active Essex Local Delivery Pilot (LDP) is a scheme providing free bikes to residents in the county's most disadvantaged communities, to significantly increase cycling, active travel, and physical activity levels. Following the successes of Essex Pedal Power in Basildon, this project will run alongside and pilot the use of electric bikes to promote active travel to those facing perceived barriers to cycling, as well as individuals who are the most physically inactive. The Electric Bike Loan Scheme within the Workplace will contribute to outcomes set out by national organisations, such as the Department for Transport through Gear Change and Sport England in Uniting the Movement. Furthermore, it can be linked to commitments outlined in Everyone's Essex. We are looking for an electric bike subscription that will allow ECC to loan electric bikes to individuals free of charge, with a pilot of 50 bikes to at least 50 individuals over an initial 6-month pilot with the option to extend this further. This electric bike subscription should be inclusive of all costs including servicing, tyres, battery, motor, and any component failure due to wear and tear.
