Description

1. We require a specialist practitioner to create spatial data associated with the hand-drawn mapping to increase its functionality and usability.
2. The work will specifically involve the following processes:
a) Use GIS and work with existing datasets.
b) Create polygons to define the extents of individual archaeological monuments depicted on hand-drawn mapping. Monuments will vary in scale from individual features (eg a single barrow) to larger groups of features (eg a field system comprising multiple extensive boundaries).
c) The density of monument polygons that need to be created varies between each of the hand-drawn projects (see table 2 below).
d) Attach attribute data to the newly created polygons using the existing monument recording data (copy attributes across). The key fields are Unique ID, Period, Type and Evidence. Original archived project maps may be reviewed if the relationship between the monument record point and the raster mapping is unclear.
e) Provide the polygon data with attributes for each project to an agreed standard as a shapefile.
f) It is not anticipated that the applicant will complete the polygonisation process for every hand-drawn project, rather they will deliver an agreed number of projects within the time constraints laid out below (section 1.3.5).
