Description

Before we commit to a methodology for assessing the risk to heritage assets from climate change, Historic England wishes to establish whether other countries with a similar (i.e. significance-led) stance towards heritage conservation have already trodden the path and arrived at a method that works well enough to provide policy makers with evidence and to allow heritage managers to begin to prioritise mitigation. This project therefore invites a critical literature review of English language research on the topic of quantifying risk to heritage assets. It is essential that the report goes beyond describing research that has been undertaken - Historic England is asking for recommendations as to how best to proceed. A thorough search that concludes that there is no 'off the shelf' solution will be just as valuable as one that finds a suitable method that has been pioneered elsewhere.
