Description

The Northern Lighthouse Board requires professional Engineering Support Services to support our Asset Management and Project Delivery Departments to assist with future projects and specialist inspection services which may arise over the course of a 4-year contract.

The provisions of the service will be spread over a wide geographical area throughout Scotland, including the Northern and Western Isles, and the Isle of Man in some of the remotest areas. Any future projects, which are identified and deemed appropriate under this framework agreement for Engineering Support Services could require Specialist Engineers to undertake feasibility studies and design of any proposed structures, undertake inspection surveys report on findings with recommendations for remedial works and suggest improvements, at our HQ in Edinburgh, Oban, Inverness, Lerwick and Kirkwall Bases as well as a variety of Aids to Navigation (AtoN's) structures, including bridges, piers, roads etc.

As part of this framework agreement the successful supplier may be required to provide technical input to designing specifications, producing bill of quantities, and providing technical advice for any potential future project from beginning to end of the NLB tendering/procurement exercises.

It is anticipated that the following pipeline of work will most likely be let under this framework:

•Reverse Engineering of Lighthouse Electrical Engineering System Drawings on Lighthouse Stations that do not have up to date electrical drawings.
•Building Principal Inspections at our HQ, and Oban Base to report on condition and remedial works providing a 10 year programme of works
•Specialist Inspections of NLB assets
•Feasibility Studies and Detailed design of any new asset or major modification to an asset, including appropriate order of magnitude costings.
•Load capacity inspection and assessment of NLB assets
•Development of design requirements for the stainless steel HCL fall arrest system support bands around the lighthouse domes and other support brackets
•Geotechnical Investigations and reporting
