Description

Expressions of interest are sought from suitably qualified and experienced ground investigation contractors to provide ground investigation services in connection with the above contract. The works will require a combination of ground investigation techniques including cable percussion, window sampling, rotary core drilling, machine excavated trial pits, in situ and laboratory testing in UKAS approved facility. The appointed contractor(s) will be required to fulfil the duties of Principal Contractor as defined in CDM (2015). Interested parties are requested to complete the attached brief questionnaire.
A minimum of four and maximum of six Tenderers will be shortlisted from evaluated applicants and invited to submit competitive tenders, the works being divided into two lots as described below.
Tenderers will be required to submit returns for both lots. The contract will be awarded as a whole or in two lots.
Lot 1: M6Junction 40 to Brough. A total of 3 individual sites over approximately 25km.
1. M6Junction 40, Kemplay Bank Grade Separated Junction, Penrith to Temple Sowerby
2. Kirby Thore to Appleby
3. Appleby to Brough

Works will briefly comprise some 160 cable percussion boreholes and window sampling, some with rotary core follow on, some 140 machine excavated trials pits with associated in-situ testing and laboratory testing for geotechnical and geo-environmental purposes. Lot 2: Bowes Bypass to A1 Scotch Corner. A total of 4 individual sites over approximately 13km.

Works required will comprise some 80 cable percussion boreholes and window sampling some with rotary core follow on, some 80 machine excavated trial pits, all together with associated in-situ and laboratory testing and reporting. Submission of ags data and Factual Report.

Supplier requirements:
Supplier must be able to demonstrate a proven track history in delivering schemes in excess of £2m.
Supplier must have the following:
• Membership of the British Drilling Association
• Certified to Baseline Personnel Security Standard
• Ensure that all operatives have level 2 NVQ for Land Drilling and/or relevant CSCS/Plant Operators certification.
• All suppliers must register on the Amey evaluation system Curtis Fitch in order to be considered for any opportunity (Details on how to register are detailed below). (The registration is not necessarily required for this EOI).
• Insurance Levels (Minimum requirements)
o Employers Liability Insurance - £10m
o Public / Products, Third Party Liability Insurance - £10m
