Brief overview
Innovation runs through the heart of Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings. Big ideas and globally important moments are integral to the heritage and future of this site, and we are looking for bold thinkers to approach its industrial canvas to create an interpretation scheme as innovative as the building itself. We want to celebrate its past, inspire future innovation and help local communities feel proud of their iconic landmark and its global significance.
The challenge is to bring together its industrial heritage, architectural uniqueness and social history, and make these relevant to people today. The comprehensive interpretation scheme also needs to complement the building's new use, inspiring creativity, reflection and providing a crucial element of the visitor experience, whilst allowing its commercial tenants to flourish in their new surrounds.

We are seeking a single design team or consortium as lead consultants to contract and work with, to act as a design and build contractor that will deliver a scheme right through to handover. The team will need to have experience of working on heritage projects, place making and storytelling, and be as inspired by this iconic site as we are. We are looking for a creative approach in line with the brand values of Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings:
