Description

Did you know Cambridge is the most unequal city in the UK, and that there is a 10 year life expectancy gap between the richest and poorest areas of the city?
You can learn how your business can help people in financial difficulty and end poverty in the city by attending Cambridge City Council's free event on 13th November between 5pm and 7:30pm at Queen's College, Silver Street, Cambridge.
At the event, Simon Humphrey from Arm, shall introduce attendees to Cambridge 2030 - an initiative to bring businesses, charities and other organisations together to develop a shared vision and action plan across the city to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.
The Living Wage Foundation will present on practicalities for employers of paying the Real Living Wage and becoming accredited with the Foundation to demonstrate commitment to fair pay. The Real Living Wage is the only wage independently calculated to reflect real living costs and is one of the most important tools to tackle in-work poverty. You will also hear from The Cambridge Building Society about learning from their journey towards living wage accreditation.
For more details about the event and in order to book a place, please go to the Eventbrite page. If you have any queries, you can contact Helen Crowther, Equality and Anti-Poverty Officer at Cambridge City Council: helen.crowther@cambridge.gov.uk.
