Description
Services summary
The National Maritime Museum (NMM) is developing a temporary exhibition for its Special Exhibitions Gallery (SEG) and seeks Quantity Surveying and Contract Administration services for this mixed media exhibition, scheduled to open at end March 2020. The exhibition will occupy 700m² of the gallery, and the setworks construction/graphics package for the exhibition is currently projected to have a value of around £275K. This includes lighting hardware but excludes contingency, object mounts and framing, AV hardware, AV software, and professional fees.
Current status of project
The project is at RIBA Stage 2 with Concept Design beginning in February 2020 (through to end April 2020) with the appointment of an external 3D Lead Designer. The Lead Designer role subcontracts Lighting and 2D Design and takes on the coordination of these services. The exhibition is project-managed by an in-house team.
The project team intends to manage construction through a two-stage tender process, appointing a contractor for stage 1 on or around mid-August 2020 to develop
Technical Design with the NMM project team.
The successful QS / CA will be required to advise on the exact procurement method and contract type for the Build Contractor.
Please note that we are proposing a two-stage tender for this project, but as per the indicative programme below, do not have the contingency time to re-tender after the pre-construction stage.
PLEASE NOTE: we will ONLY be qualifying suppliers who:
-Show proven project experience with temporary exhibitions over the last three years comparable to the proposed assignment
-Provide CVs of the proposed members of your team for QS/CA work streams, showing their experience of working on temporary exhibitions in a museum or
comparable environment
-Demonstrate clear understanding of and approach to the Project Brief
- Are able to meet the deliverables and deadlines as outlined in the RFQ documentation
