Description

Natural England [The Authority] is advising Defra on a range of issues relating to the 25 Year Environment Plan and the Environment Bill. This data set will be used within the Nature Recovery Network (NRN) & Local Nature Recovery strategies through integration into the Habitat Network Maps and as a standalone product. It will also be used in the targeting of NbS (Nature Based Solutions) through the delivery of several elements of the Environment Land Management Schemes .

There are 3 schemes that will reward environmental land management:
- Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI)
- Local Nature Recovery (LNR)
- Landscape Recovery (LR)
The project outputs will inform all 3 schemes.

It is Natural England (NE) [The Authority] aim that this contract will;
1. Review and update the existing data Spatial Prioritisation of Land Management for Carbon Dataset.
2. Reviewing latest evidence especially with reference to the recently updated Carbon Storage and Sequestration by Habitat 2021 (NERR094) http://publications.naturalengland.org.uk/publication/5419124441481216
3. Better link Nature Recovery and Climate solutions together in some areas.
4. Make it more accessible - through an open data licence and platforms such as Magic and NE data hub.
5. Create an indication of priority areas at several scales including national and regional levels. Create communication products to help disseminate this information to audiences such as LNRS, NE area Teams, AONB's & NP.
