Description
Smart Together is a function provided by Guy's and St Thomas's NHS Foundation Trust to provide procurement functions to fellow NHS Trusts.
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust through its Mental Health Prevention Programme has a requirement for Community engagement/capacity building.
This requirement is to develop a programme of mental health community capacity building across South London. We are now looking to appoint a lead strategic community partner to undertake a listening campaign across all of South London, to help understand what people need support with and then to develop and lead a deep 12-month engagement and capacity building programme in our local communities that will raise awareness of mental wellbeing in the face of Covid-19.
The lead partner will be responsible for creating and maintaining an infrastructure of community support networks, run by volunteer community mental health champions. The lead partner will co-ordinate and host a series of digital events, seminars and summits, in partnership with a new mental health taskforce that is being established.
The partner would be required to:
• Undertake comprehensive grassroots listening (research) campaign to identify the challenges and the solutions that people would want to see developed.
• Work with the Mental Health Prevention Taskforce to develop and implement a 12 month action plan based on the needs of the community groups engaged through the listening campaign
• Host and organise a digital mental health event every month with key stakeholders including statutory and third sector leaders and community organisations focussing on the key themes that have emerged from the summit
• To develop a mental health champions programme so that each community group (minimum of 100) has at least one person who can sign post to mental health support and lead the group
• Community organising methodology to ensure post lock down there is a strategy and team that has the tools and know how to engage hard to reach individuals
• Ensure the involvement of local schools during and beyond the lockdown period with an online activity plan
• Holding a schools' mental health symposium during October 2020
• Working to create an online resource pack for schools based on existing information.
• Create a programme of digital interventions working with the Mental Health Prevention Taskforce and SLaM clinicians
• Clearly demonstrate a strong methodology around the creation of an infrastructure of community support systems and the sustainability plan for these groups well after the 12-month programme has ended.
