Description
Applications are invited to provide Skype based communication Skills support for Junior Doctors in training, in addition to CSA examination skills support for trainees across the East of England who have been referred to the Professional Support and Well-being Service (PSW).
Some referrals received by the provider may require support with clinical communication-based exams.
All new referrals will be allocated an individual case number and emailed to the provider by a member of the PSW Administration Team. Please refer to 'PSW referral - Comms Skills referral Case Number for an example of the referral.
The PSW will provide a brief background summary of the individuals circumstances, alongside contact details, to enable the provider to ascertain if they are able to support a trainee and provide support appropriately.
The PSW will expect the provider to acknowledge receipt of any referral within 2 working days and confirm initial contact has been made with the trainee within 5 working days to arrange an appointment.
The provider would be expected to manage and monitor all aspects of the process outlined above and provide a trainee's session within a reasonable and appropriate time frame, based on individual trainee's needs.
The PSW will approve 8 sessions at the time of the initial referral. If the provider feels that a trainee would benefit from additional sessions, a request should be made in writing to the PSW manager using the 'Additional Sessions Request form' (Appendix 2). The request should include the number of sessions accessed to date, how many additional sessions are being requested, the rationale behind the request and, where appropriate, the objective for each additional session.
