Description

1497/308/EML/N/16 High Power Laser Welding Facility

The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for the supply of a High Power Solid State Laser Welding Facility for use within the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre at Catcliffe, Rotherham.

Scope of Requirement:

This procurement is for the installation and commissioning of a high power laser welding facility to support process development of the manufacturing of key elements of nuclear components.

The equipment must be capable of welding at high speed, defect free, with low distortion of mild carbon steel, stainless steel, and Ni based alloys. The facility should be able to weld horizontal surfaces (ASME IX 1G) and also surfaces that deviate from this orientation, including vertical walls (ASME IX 2G, 3G).

It is expected that a single supplier will not have a complete expertise to deliver the entire project and that a consortium of specialized suppliers will be formed. One Supplier, ideally the "systems integrator" will take over the lead function and responsibility for design, delivery, coordination, and commissioning, and will report to the Purchaser.

Tender Process and Documentation:

This is an E.U. open exercise. The ITT can be downloaded by registering and expressing your interest on the University`s e-tendering system https://in-tendhost.co.uk/Sheffield

If you have any questions or comments in relation to this tender they must be submitted via the In-tend System, this can be accessed at https://in-tendhost.co.uk/Sheffield

Completed tenders must be returned through the same e-tendering system.

Closing date for receipt of tenders: 7th of October 2016 at 12 noon (UK time).
