Description

Norfolk County Council is the local authority for Norfolk and acts to help and support residents and visitors in the County in various ways. As part of its net-zero ambition it is a priority for the Council to reduce the number of single occupancy car journeys made across the county and change the behaviour of residents to choose sustainable modes of transport more often. To support this change in behaviour there is a need to create a bespoke journey planner, which is built into a more comprehensive Travel Norfolk website. This will be for residents and visitors in Norfolk which encompasses all travel options available to ensure users can make accurate and informed decisions about most suitable modes of transport.
The development of this project spans a number of departments within Norfolk County Council and therefore represents a number of different priorities, including active travel, public transport information and live traffic and parking information as well as helping to meet public health objectives around clean air, health and wellbeing. It is important all forms of transport are represented on one platform. The system will play a major role for Norfolk County Council in ensuring people are able to more easily access services and areas across the County. Good user experience and accessibility features are therefore crucial. The website will include transport information with accurate timetables built into the journey planner element and a place to host travel campaign material under the Travel Norfolk brand.
