Description
The successful Supplier will be required to provide catering services for Hackney New School, 317-319 Kingsland Road, London, E8 4DL.
Hackney New School Trust established a four-form entry secondary school, Hackney New school, in 2013, with a particular focus on music. The school is growing year on year to a reach a full complement of 700 pupils in 2020, aged 11 to 19.
Hackney New School aims to equip students with the intellectual and emotional tools needed to lead an interesting, rewarding and diverse life, this vision is centred on four key elements; academic excellence, self-belief, intellectual curiosity and responsibility towards others.
As part of the school's vision 'eating well together' is a central part of the school day where pupils and staff eat lunch together and no packed lunches are allowed to make sure that all students eat well, affordably.
Whilst the Supplier will be responsible for recording meal uptake it will not be responsible for collecting or administering payments. As such, the contract will be based on 'cost plus' with an estimated turnover during the initial 18 months being approx. 350 000 GBP.
Hackney New Primary School:
Following the successful opening of the Free Secondary School, the Hackney New School Academy Trust gained a Funding Agreement from the Department for Education to open a new community Primary School in September 2015 with a cohort of 50 children in two Reception classes. By 2020 it is anticipated that the Primary School will have reached full capacity of 350 pupils.
The Primary School is currently on a temporary site with its own catering provision and it is anticipated that the school will move to its permanent site in autumn 2019. Consideration will be given to the benefit of merging the secondary and primary schools' catering provision.
Basis of Contract:
The School wishes to participate in a tender process with the intention of appointing a Supplier to deliver the catering provision for its secondary school. The contract is for the provision of full outsourced catering services including the delivery and management of the catering services and the subsequent purchasing of light equipment to support the requirement. The contract will commence in January 2019 and will be awarded for an initial period of 18 months, after or during which point the Hackney New School Academy Trust will consider the benefits or combining the catering provision for its Primary School. If the contract is not merged after the initial period then the contract will continue on a rolling basis until such point a decision is made. The contract will not account for sales and will operate solely under a 'cost plus' with fixed guaranteed lines on food and labour costs.
