Description

1.There are two parcels of work the Contractor is required to provide a price for in their tender return:
c.3 x chillers replacement and associated M&E, BMS works to enable daily operation and regular maintenance of same following removal of 3 nos. existing chillers;

d.Installation of structural steelworks to sustain loading of new chiller units and modification of existing platform to ensure personnel movement and ease in carrying out maintenance and breakdown repairs.

2.The above works will be carried out in two phases as described in the Troup Bywater Andrews (TBA) specification; however the Trust is open to suggestions if the entire work can be carried out in a single phase provided there is no disruption in supply of conditioned air to clinical areas.

Contractors are required to submit their tender response including price for the project to
be completed in two phases as required in the specification for the purposes of a level
playing field and tender evaluation.

Possibilities of decreased downtime by way of a reduced phase programme that has
potential for savings without disruptions to clinical activity can be discussed with the
successful contractor should it be proposed by the Contractor.

3.The Trust will also be open to discussion with regard to reduction of proposed increase in area of the existing platform; however the Contractors must submit their price in accordance with the drawing including specification/dwg. by design consultant Perega for purposes of a level playing field and tender evaluation.

4.Manufacturer's recommendation will be strictly adhered to for installation, testing and commissioning of new equipment.

5.The existing 2 x chillers (third chiller being redundant) and other associated equipment supply critical patient areas and as such the Contractor shall ensure that there are no operational interruption(s), unless agreed in writing. The chiller unit(s) shall continue to function by way of either manual override or alternate means prior to existing equipment being made redundant ensuring continuity of air supply at desired temperature until completion of works.

6.There are operating theatres, surgery rooms, recovery space and admin areas, located below the roof space, supplied tempered air from the AHU and chillers located on the roof and in the plantroom of block 71. The Contractor may be required to carry out some work during non-working hours and possibly over the weekend and should allow for the same in their tender price.

Should it be envisaged that temporary measures are necessary the Contractor shall take into consideration the possibility of both above requirements and consider reflection of the same in their tendered price.
