Description

North Northamptonshire Council (hereafter referred to "NNC") and West Northamptonshire Council (hereafter referred to as "WNC") are seeking qualified and experienced habilitation specialists (hereafter referred to as "HS") to complete discrete pieces of work with students aged 0 to 19 years to develop independent skills.

NNC requires a HS service to work with children with visual impairments. The specialists will need to have to be qualified and registered practitioners.

HS are required to train young people with vision impairments in the use of alternative independence strategies. They will support and advise carers on alternative skill learning for the child, using a range of strategies customised to the age, needs and development of the child.

HS will be required to work with school staff, along with other professionals, to develop the child's independence when travelling to, being at and returning home from school. This includes developing their independence skills in many areas of personal life such as dressing skills, personal care and eating, safe travel, shopping, and leisure activities.

HS will need to assess children and then make recommendations based on the child's age, need and developmental stage. The HS will then offer training programmes which are bespoke and written for the child's individual needs.

The HS will need to keep and submit accurate records, monitoring reports and final report paperwork. The HS will need to adhere to all NNC health and safety, Risk Management, Data Management, and quality requirements.
