Description

Newcastle University Bioimaging Unit is a multi-user imaging facility within FMS whose primary aim is to provide light high-end light microscopy and support to members of the University as well as external academic or commercial customers. The facility intends to expand its services to include the following imaging equipment detailed below.

A large-scale high density (HD) complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) multi-electrode array (MEA) system with 3D pillar electrodes is required to record from neuronal preparations in vitro. The system is required to record from neurones in the depth of the tissue (below the surface where they are often damaged by the slicing process). The system must be able to fit under various microscope platforms to enable simultaneous recording from the tissue.
