Description

The PCC for Cheshire is inviting research proposals to audit sexual violence in Cheshire, including the various support pathway, needs of sexual violence victims and survivors, and the services available. This work will assist the local partnership to develop a strategic plan to improve care and support for sexual violence survivors in the future. The activity is planned to take place during the winter of 2018/19, and will be supported by the OPCC and the partner agencies that form the membership of the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences group for Cheshire.
The intention is to build upon the currently commissioned pathways for SARC and Aftercare to explore further the extent and nature of sexual violence across Cheshire and map the pathways of services people access or need to access as a part of their recovery. The audit will follow the entire pathway of care and support for survivors, including the criminal justice process, to research how far the needs of sexual violence victims are being met. Detailed analysis of police recorded crime figures to ascertain the type, nature and volume of sexual violence in Cheshire, identifying trends and patterns will be required to provide a detailed picture of need and what services are in place, identifying any gaps in provision, so that partners can develop an action plan that will set the future strategic direction for survivor care. It is anticipated that the work will cover Police, Healthcare and Community services.
The PCC is seeking a partner to work independently in the progression of this activity. It is essential that individuals and organisations feel free to express opinions without the hindrance of any external influence, but the research will be supported by the OPCC to achieve the intended aims. It would not be deemed independent for any organisation commissioned as part of the current pathway to bid for this work. Funding to a maximum of £30,000 will be available.
