Description

Education and Training Light Touch Regime.

NHS England seeks to commission regulatory training for AHP practitioners under the Education and Training Light Touch Regime.

ACT 008 of the Long-Term Work Force Plan is to Enhance the scope and reach of Allied Health Professions (AHPs) roles.
There are currently fourteen registerable titles for Allied Health Professions (AHPs).
The fourteen allied health professions:
• Art therapists
• Dietitians
• Drama therapists
• Music therapists
• Occupational therapists
• Operating department practitioners
• Orthoptists
• Osteopaths
• Paramedics
• Physiotherapists
• Podiatrists
• Prosthetists and orthotists
• Radiographers
• Speech and language therapists
In order to realise the full potential of Allied Health Professionals, they need to use their full scope of practise. Guidance and training from the regulatory body will provide not only support in implementations but permission for scope optimization within safe and effective regulatory brown boundaries.
By the nature of how Allied Health Professions are regulated, clear regulatory guidance and training is essential for employers to optimise the scope of practise safely and effectively across each of the differing professions.
3. Scope of Contract
The supplier will need to demonstrate knowledge of AHP regulation, clear understanding of the requirements of AHP delegation and scope optimisation across multiple allied health professions.
This contract is to deliver two areas of essential training:
a) The first focuses on scope optimisation. Clear up to date training for managers and practitioners on safe and effective scope optimisation.
b) The second on delegation. Clear up to date training practitioners on safe and effective delegation for both registrant and non-registrant staff including support workforce.
Both areas of training will be open to Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registrants and non-registrants. Training through webinars and registrant engagement, offering strong leadership through FAQs, toolkit resources, and resources for registrants, managers and non HCPC managers (e.g. directors of nursing).
The outputs from this work will be published and be co-produced with all AHP professional bodies, the four UK governments and working in partnership with the Health Care Professions Council and the General Osteopathic Council.
