Description
The Worcestershire Community Equipment Service (WCES) is commissioned by Worcestershire County Council ('the Council') and jointly funded by the Council and NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care Board.
WCES has a critical role in supporting other services across the Worcestershire health and social care system, both for children and adults. Professionals work together to assess and prescribe a range of equipment that, helps to support people in their own home, including End of Life (EoL) care, prevents or delays admission to hospital or residential care and facilitates timely discharge from hospital.
The service encompasses a range of functions including,
o The delivery of equipment
o The maintenance and servicing of equipment
o The repair of equipment
o The collection of equipment
o The decontamination of equipment
o The refurbishment of equipment for reuse
o The storage of equipment.

The aim of the planned preventative maintenance services, inspections and repairs is to ensure that all equipment issued by WCES is fit for purpose, safe to use, in good working order and consistently available for individuals when it is needed. It is a specialist technical activity requiring the deployment of trained engineers on an on-call basis 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
