Lynton Primary Care Services

NHS Devon ICB ("the Commissioner"), is seeking any potential providers wishing to express interest in delivering Primary Care Services in Lynton, Devon to contact us.

The GP practice at Lynton is a small practice with a list size of approximately 2,476 patients operating 5 days a week, 08:00 to 18:30 and extended access on Monday and Thursdays from 07:30 to 18:30 hrs. The population of Lynton is a higher than national average age profile of over 50-95 years old. A full primary care service is provided. The current provider has given notice to terminate the contract with 6 months' notice to 30 April 2024.

NHS Devon would like to commission a similar service which offers full primary medical services and good access for patients. The annual financial envelope is expected to be approximately £300k per annum.

Lynton is a town on the Exmoor coast in the North Devon district in the county of Devon, England, approximately 20 miles from Barnstaple, Ilfracombe, Minehead and 26 miles from South Molton. All of which takes between 30 and 45 mins each way on average by car. Public transport links are minimal. The only public transport from Lynton is a bus service to Barnstaple daily. There is no service to any other town other than Ilfracombe during the weekends and Minehead in the summer months only. The closest GP surgery to Lynton is in Ilfracome, which is 38 minutes away and has no direct public transport links.

Interested parties must be eligible to hold an GMS/PMS/APMS contract and appropriate CQC registration. The key requirements, that providers will be expected to meet are:
• Demonstrable evidence of delivering health care services to a similar group
• Delivery within the budget
• Demonstrable ability to provide high quality primary medical services
• Evidence of managing service improvement and delivering change in a challenging environment
• Evidence of partnership working with system organisations and other agencies, and statutory groups
