Description
University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is one of the largest teaching hospital Trusts in England and the West Midlands, serving a regional, national and international population. It includes Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Birmingham Chest Clinic, Good Hope Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Solihull Hospital and various Community Services. We also run a number of smaller satellite units, allowing people to be treated as close to home as possible.
As an NHS organisation, UHB will see and treat more than 2.2 million people every year across our sites UHB currently employs over 20,000 members of staff and we are committed to investing in their development and their health and wellbeing.
The Trust is collecting more data in different formats (internal/external, structured/unstructured), which is both sensitive and highly confidential.
The Trust has forthcoming implementations of Cloud-based ERP (transactional data), EPM (managerial data) systems, and other updated applications. Strategically the Trust is moving to a "Cloud first" approach to upgrade the legacy IT estate, and we require a mechanism for the safe implementation of these platforms and tools. Thus policies and procedures that provide the Trust control of our business data, both in the Cloud and in setups where data is stored or sourced in a combination of Cloud and on-premise, are required.
ERP systems use automation and predefined business logic to orchestrate processes. All processes in an ERP, without exception, rely on the quality and reliable data. If the data is missing, the process will stop. If the data is wrong or incomplete, the process will produce unexpected results requiring remediation.
It needs to be acknowledged that data will become the biggest challenge to the ERP programme and appropriate and knowledgeable resources equipped with capable tools must be on-boarded immediately which is where the data wrangling tool is needed.
It is widely accepted that the success of the ERP migration will depend on the availability of quality data to be migrated, therefore a data wrangling tool is needed to obtain the data being migrated more efficiently.
To access, review, investigate and resolve data integrity, validity and quality issues and combine data from numerous sources in a rapid timeframe, there is a need for appropriate software to deliver specific capabilities. (See Requirements & Briefing Note/ Annex 1 documents)
