Description
1. SCOPE OF WORKS
This contract is for the removal of a 6.5m by 19.5m tarmac pad and its base, removal of 1 x Basketball hoop, re-siting of two benches, a litter bin and the reinstatement of a 12.5m by 22m tarmac pad with suitable base.
2. THE SITE
The site is Abbey Park, Glastonbury, BA6 9ET.
The park is owned by Glastonbury Abbey and is part of the designated Scheduled Monument. Glastonbury Abbey have consented to the works and Glastonbury Town Council has applied for Scheduled Monument Consent via the Abbey's Archaeologist.
As the site is on a scheduled monument, an Archaeologist will need to be present during some of the works to keep a watching brief on any potential finds of archaeological significance. This will be provided and paid for by Glastonbury Town Council.
3. THE CLIENT
The client for the works is Glastonbury Town Council.
4. SPECIFICATION
Tarmac Pad
The tarmac pad is to be 12.5m in width and 22m in length. It is to be laid upon a suitable hard standing base with a two-layer tarmac top consisting of a binding layer and playing surface. The pad is to be constructed of porous materials and edged.
Basketball Hoops
Glastonbury Town Council will supply 2 x Basketball hoops. The contractor will need to install these in suitable pits of circa 600mm by 600mm using concrete.
Benches and Litter Bin
Two existing benches and a litter bin will need to be re-sited from the existing tarmac pad and reinstalled on suitable concrete bases adjacent to the new tarmac pad.
Remedial works
The contractor will need to make provision to return the site into the condition it was in prior to commencement of the works. This includes levelling of any disturbed ground and grass seeding.
Waste
The contractor must make provision to remove waste from the site and transport it to the Town Council's land at Common Moor Drove, BA6 9AF.
Plant
The contractor will need to provide all necessary plant and safety fencing for the duration of the works to complete the work.
Health and Safety
The contractor must make suitable arrangements for the mitigation of risk and the safety of operatives and the public for the entire duration of the works, complying will all relevant legislation.
