Project Aim
A comprehensive plan to evaluate the impacts of marine conservation byelaw processes.
Objectives for impact evaluation plan
The plan's objectives are to support the MMO to:
a] Understand the extent to which conservation, social and economic objectives of MPAs can be met through
the MMO byelaw process. For example, a possible route could be learning lessons from implementing past
byelaws.
b] Develop a detailed framework for monitoring and evaluation, including indicators that can be used to assess
how the byelaw making process considers the impacts of evidence, uncertainties, legalities, governance &
management and stakeholder consultations
c] Provide key recommendations on how the Marine Conservation Team (MCT) can consider impacts set out
in b] byelaw making processes
