Description

The Home Energy Model: Assessing the Energy Performance of UK Homes

Are you interested in contributing to the UK government's net zero buildings agenda? The Home Energy Model (HEM) is set to overhaul how the UK estimates the energy performance of its 30 million+ homes. Currently, UK homes account for approximately 13% of our greenhouse gas emissions. This project aims to establish the policy making infrastructure necessary to help bring that to net zero.
HEM represents a significant upgrade to the existing system, offering a step-change improvement in the accuracy of energy performance assessments. The model will support key policies such as minimum energy standards for new homes, and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), with over 1.6 million EPCs produced annually. Additionally, HEM will foster innovation by highlighting the benefits of new technologies in decarbonising homes.
We are seeking suppliers with expertise in the following areas:
- Building Physics
- Coding
- Software Development
- Data Analysis
- Auditing
- Quality Assurance
- Verification and Validation
- Research and Analysis
- Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement
The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) is hosting a pre-market engagement event to present the proposed requirements to industry and gather feedback. This event aims to help DESNZ understand suppliers' expertise and capabilities to shape the delivery of this project.
Event Details:
- Date: Thursday, 29 August
- Time: 10-12 am
- Platform: Microsoft Teams
There will be opportunities to provide feedback during the event and afterwards via a request for information
How to Register:
Please register your interest by emailing homeenergymodel@energysecurity.gov.uk with the subject line "HEM procurement" and your contact details by 16th August 2024.
Meeting invites and agenda will be sent to those who register.
