Description

The proposed works will comprise of civil maintenance repair works and the application of decorative / protective coatings to the external / internal elevations of the lighthouse tower, and the provision of additional safety gates and railings to ladders.

More specifically, the main items of work are as follows:
•Establish welfare facilities.
•Set up site.
•Prepare substrates for overcoating
•Carry out render repairs
•Clear vegetation from approaches
•Take down storm windows and redecorate
•Check tower for damaged brickwork
•Supply and fit new handrails and safety gates to ladders
•Repair leaks to dome lantern glazing
•Remove bossed plaster and efflorescence
•Repair corrosion to dome and lantern glazing
•Redecorate tower
•Redecorate internally
•Renew non slip flooring to watchroom
•Redecorate murette and handrails

The contractor must ensure that all/any personnel have successfully completed the Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET), including the Compressed Air - Emergency Breathing System Training (CA-EBS). Certificates must be submitted to NLB along with training/competency records.
