Description

The MaaS Solution provides the opportunity to deliver a single platform for the West of England area, providing a simplified offer to customers with the ability to access the best fares and remove barriers to use of public transport, and support the delivery of our BSIP and the vision and aims of the National Bus Strategy. The vision for the West of England CA MaaS project is: The West of England CA's MaaS Solution should collaboratively deliver a regional multi-modal journey planning, booking, ticketing, payment and information solution. We recognise that MaaS (as a solution) can be interpreted in many different ways, technically, operationally and crucially from a customer point of view. For the purposes of this specification and development, deployment and refinement of MaaS in the West of England, we define it as "a platform that, together with associated stakeholder and management services, allows residents and visitors to the West of England to plan, book and pay for single mode and multi-modal journeys across the region, with a simple and personalised interface, based on their specific preferences, needs and behaviours, but also using techniques to encourage the use of low carbon and more sustainable travel modes where practicable"
The objectives of the West of England CA MaaS project are as follows:
 Provide a commercially and operationally attractive solution for MSPs with
low barriers to entry.
 Provide an easy to use solution for all customers including disadvantaged and
forgotten groups.
 Become the go-to platform satisfying the majority of sustainable travel
demand in the defined MaaS area with a variety of customer centric solutions.
 Increase the market share of public transport, new mobility services and
active travel.
 Reduce sole occupancy private car use
 Provide a solution that can integrate future opportunities and use-cases.
 Deliver a commercially sustainable MaaS Solution that will provide long-term
benefits.
 Identify and share outcomes, insights and learnings of MaaS development,
implementation and impact locally, regionally and nationally across all users.
