Description
Leicestershire County Council has significant land holdings in south west Leicestershire.
An opportunity has been identified to promote part of the Council's holdings as part of a Strategic Development Area which is integral to a wider strategic growth initiative that is being promoted with a view to delivering significant infrastructure, housing and employment opportunities in the area. Currently the site, which is largely situated in Blaby District has no allocation within the current local plan but has the potential of being promoted as a potential allocation within the next review of the Local Plan which is due to commence in 2019.
At the present time no promoter / developer has progressed the process of land assembly necessary to bring the site forward, which is currently in multiple ownerships.
The potential exists for a site to be assembled that has the potential to deliver a residential led mixed use development of circa 4,000 houses together with employment land plus highways and community infrastructure required to support a development of this nature.
As an initial phase of work necessary to inform a future management and delivery strategy for the site and maximise the potential of both its land and its wider strategic vision the County Council is seeking to appoint masterplanners, to work in co-operation with other consultants, to undertake an initial appraisal of the potential site and prepare the necessary constraints plan and land use budget for the site together with a draft Masterplan to support the promotion of the site through the local plan process. The scope of the work is to include monthly co-ordination meetings.
