Description

The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council (the "Council") has responsibility for the Pupil Referral Unit ("PRU") at Ellar Carr, Ellar Carr Road, Thackley, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD10 0TD. The PRU takes a number of challenging children from the Bradford District with around 20% of the Pupils currently being in the care of the Council. There are currently about 60 children overall but this may increase over time. The PRU's aim is to prepare Pupils for a successful transition to further education or training at the age of 16. Most Pupils join the PRU in Year 7 or during Year 9. The school serves a wide geographical area of Bradford and the surrounding area. Clients using the service may be vulnerable and may suffer from learning disabilities, behavioural problems, have sensory or hearing difficulties, an autistic spectrum disorder or another physical disability. Therefore, some journeys will require that an Escort be provided by the PRU to accompany them. The PRU is looking to a sole Supplier to provide transport to and from the PRU for Pupils and Escort (as appropriate) during the course of a normal academic year. The Supplier must provide a quality, reliable and efficient service to all users ensuring equal opportunity principles apply. Critically, the service must: • Safe - the safety of each Pupil and Escort under your care is the most important element. It should be evident in every aspect of the service including staff employment, safeguarding requirements, training, operational processes, vehicle procurement, maintenance and cleanliness; • Sensitive - operators and their staff should understand the needs of the Pupil and treat them appropriately; • Reliable - vehicles must arrive at the right location and on time, every time.
