Description
The Education and Training Foundation has awarded contracts for Lot 1 - Chairs Leadership Programme (CLP) and Lot 2 - Governance Professional Development Programme (GPDP) of this tender.
The Chairs' Leadership Programme (Lot 1) is a leadership development programme that aims to develop the capacity of the Chairs of governing bodies of Further Education (FE) institutions by encouraging them to re-think their leadership roles, to become more deliberative and strategic in their roles and to create a community of practice through which they can mutually support each other to strengthen capacity across the FE sector.
This programme will enable Chairs' to:
- Strengthen their strategic leadership ability
- Gain greater stakeholder awareness, confidence, and knowledge to develop stakeholder engagement
- Develop a high performing team through greater understanding of boardroom dynamics
- Strengthen, through challenge and support, the triumvirate relationship of Chair, CEO, and Governance Professional
- Give clarity on the role of the Chair and the Board in ensuring the organisation delivers on its purpose.
The Governance Professional (Clerk to the Board) has a critical role to play in meeting the administrative and procedural requirements of Boards as well as being the trusted advisor to the Board - enabling efficient, effective discussion and decision making. They provide expert advice on governance, procedures, boardroom dynamics, and compliance, and are expected to act as the guardians of integrity. The FE Commissioner recognises that professional quality clerking is critical to the effectiveness of a governing board in fulfilling its core strategic functions.
The overarching aims of the Governance Professionals Development programme (Lot 2) will enable Governance Professionals to:
- Gain new insights into Board dynamics and the triumvirate relationships of Governance Professional, Chair, and CEO
- Share experiences and perspectives on dynamics of support and challenge required for effective governance
- Explore the role of the Governance Professional as trusted advisor
- Accept, understand, and develop themselves as leaders, building knowledge of leadership styles and adaptive approaches to governance challenges
- Develop a network of peers across the sector
