Description

Historic England is looking to sub-divide its large open plan environmentally controlled plans storage room (room G/40) that is located in the ground floor of Historic England's Swindon office. This is to allow one half of the room to be converted to standard office accommodation, whilst leaving the other half of the room as an environmentally controlled storage facility for part of Historic England's plans and photographic archive reference collection.

The approach is to use a glass wall partitioning system that has two access controlled doors located within its length. The reasoning for the glass wall and not a standard stud wall construction, is that the building is listed and that part of the listed building consent requirements for the divide of the room was for the wall to be constructed in glass panels to allow visitors to this room to have a clear understanding of the space as it would have been when the building was first constructed. Listed Building consent has been submitted with the attached plans for this tender having received Listed Building consent on the 11th June 2018.
